However, when Skydance announced in early January that it had recruited 62-year-old (John Lasseter), Emma Thompson decided to push off the offer because Lassett had previously made employees uncomfortable by admitting that she hugged her subordinates. He was forced to resign as head of Disney's animation division. Emma Thompson, 59, wrote to the studio's management to protest their hiring of Lassett and forwarded the letter to the Los Angeles Times, when it was published in its entirety. Emma Thompson wrote in the letter: " I am very surprised that you and your company will consider hiring people who behave badly like Mr. Lassett, because in the current atmosphere." We all well aware that this sense of superiority over women's bodies has been around for centuries and cannot be changed overnight or within a year. But we realized that if people like Thompson who had spoken before did not take a stand, the pace of change would not be enough to protect my daughter's generation.
